Vacation Day 5

Since yesterday was the 4th I didn't blog!  So I will write about our adventures from yesterday and then blog later tonight about our adventures of today!  We are chilling at the hotel for a bit right now.  It is cool and overcast.  We are waiting for the sun to shine here so we can head to the beach.  It is beautiful here but very frustrating because the sun doesn't shine until late afternoon!  when we thing of California we think sun....yeah not so much in Crescent City!

Since I was little, I have always LOVED the 4th of July!  I loved to go with my dad every year and buy fireworks!  I LOVE shooting them off and now watching the excitement of my kids and them lighting fireworks!  I can say this is the first year in A LONG, LONG time that I have been afraid of fireworks!  We decided to watch the fireworks from the harbor across the road from our hotel!  All was going well and we were enjoying ourselves while waiting for the sun to set and the show to begin when a family with a pyromaniac dad pulled up alongside of us.  As the evening progressed so did he.  He was lighting off bottle rockets and black cats.  He had a few bigger bangers as well.  The final straw was when he threw one of the bigger ones to "scare" his mom and it rolled down the sidewalk towards us and in between the feet of two girls walking and exploded.  As pieces of it flew, it burned the back of the leg of the girl whose feet it rolled between and a piece landed on Colby's leg.  I was NOT  a happy momma and I think they knew it.  My voice at one point got pretty loud and I voiced my thoughts.  I don't know if they heard me or not but that is neither here nor there.  I couldn't enjoy the fireworks because I was too concerned about who was lighting off stuff and who wasn't.  EVERYONE was lighting off fireworks all around us.  I have never in all my life experienced a 4th of July like I did this year.  I am sadly disappointed!  The show was beautiful and I got some good shots but when I am more afraid of what is going around us makes the whole experience not fun at all!  This town was CRAZY about their fireworks and that was evident today as we ventured out and about sightseeing! So anyway....I don't think the kids enjoyed the 4th this year as much either.  I know that Colby didn't because he watched the show from inside the Mountaineer!  And that is disappointing because he is my little pyromaniac!  Other than that we enjoyed the other stuff we experienced that day including the parade in the morning and the stuff going on in the park all day!  There was some really cool art work on the sidewalk that I got pictures of.  And there was a band playing as well!  Aside from the fireworks we had a really good day together!

Enjoy the pictures!
