Well Colby has 20/20 vision with just a slight farsightedness. Not enough to require him to have glasses. She said that kids will likely outgrow the farsightedness and the slight sytignistism (sp?). So I guess we are back to the drawing board with him. Where he says his head hurts is a strange place, not where you would normally think it would be. Top of his head towards the back. Kind of where he sleeps on it, if that makes sense! So who knows what we are going to do! I on the other hand have had enough of my sickness that I finally called the clinic this morning and asked if they would just give me an antibotic. I had a very horrible nights sleep, was up frequently getting a drink to stop my trobbing throat and to calm my cough. I was up wondering the house at 3:15 until 4:45 and took more ibuprofen and crawled back into bed and slept again until 8:30 this morning. Again the kids were nice enough to let me sleep, they were playing a game and getting ready to have some breakfast. I am just so sick and tired of being sick and tired!!!! Will it ever end????? Guess we will see in 5 days when my Z-pack is gone! Until next time have a great evening!

Turning the corner.....

After going to acute care after church service yesterday morning and finding out that I didn't have strep throat even though it felt like I did (raw throat, pounding out of my head eardrums) I have stuck to what I was told to continue to do, lots of liquids, rest and tylenol! So I stopped at the pharmacy while I waited for Jason to come and pick me up (he was at walmart with the kids getting things we needed), I got myself some Sudafed. I am starting to feel a little bit better, although if you heard me talk you would think not, as I hardly have a voice! My throat is still hurting and my ears are still bothering me and I am having the hardest time sleeping at night! I was up from 1:15am to 2:30 there abouts Sunday night wandering the house before I finally took some ibuprofen and curled up on the couch and fell sound asleep until Jason got up for work at 5:30am, I got up off the couch and crawled back into bed and slept until 8:30am. Thankfully the kids slept that long as well! We will see how my night tonight goes! I am dreading it! But I am going to take some cough medicine with codiene and see if that doesn't help me just a bit! What a way to spend my vacation from work, SICK!!!! Hopefully I will be feeling better by New Year's Eve and we can have an enjoyable night together as a family, playing games and probably having a few challenges on the Wii also! We don't go out and do the "scene" anymore, haven't in quite a few years, we are just getting way to old for that stuff! :0) Besides we are parents and have to set a good example! If we don't want our kids doing it than we really shouldn't do it either! So hopefully I will be feeling much better tomorrow but I can see it being Sunday (the day before I have to venture back to work) before I will feel 100%!!! :0( Colby has an eye appointment tomorrow, so hopefully this will tell us something also! He is still experiencing headaches and we have really been watching his diet and reading food labels faithfully! I don't know what else to do for him except have his head scanned with a very expensive machine. We will see what tomorrow brings, hopefully some good news! Anyway....have a wonderful Monday night, I will keep you posted!

The day after the holiday!

The worst holiday of my life! I was sick as a dog yesterday so really didn't enjoy the day as I should have. Pretty much was in bed all day/night. I think I was awake a total of 3 hours the whole day. The kids couldn't get their presents open fast enough for me so I could get back to bed. Most of the day today wasn't much better as I had a pounding headache and after dinner I took 3 ibuprofen and took a nap and that helped the problem a bit; tomorrow will finally be a better day (I pray anyway). The kids really had a great Christmas and enjoyed their toys, they got a Wii system and they have been having a blast with it. We feel it was a worthwhile investment and it is something that whole family can be involved in and really enjoy the time spent together! So tonight Jason and I opened our presents from the kids and each other and then had our birthday cake for Jesus. I have included some pics from tonight, as I believe that this is the true reason for why we celebrate Christmas (even the day after)
:-) I hope that you each had a safe and fun Christmas! Next week, New Year's! I am ready to start a new year! 2009 will be an interesting year for us! Christmas blessings!

The family before Christmas Eve Service

Mikayla found the pickle, she got to open the first gift Christmas morning!

Jesus' birthday cake (which we had tonight). This is the first year that we have done it this way and put meaning behind why it was done the way it was. I think the kids' enjoyed it. Mikayla was reciting John 3:16 with me, that is her favorite verse. See below the picture for the meaning of the cake and all that is on it.

First, the birthday cake itself symbolizes God’s love for us:
(For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16)

The inside is red, which symbolizes our sins, scarlet in God’s eyes.
(For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23)

The white frosting covers the cake just as Christ’s purity covers our sins.
(Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:18)

The yellow star is the one that shone over His manger.
(After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the One who has been born King of the Jews? We saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.” Matthew 2:1-2)

And the angel is the bearer of the first glad tidings.
(An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Luke 2:9-10)

The candles remind us that Christ is the light of the world.
(When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12)

There are twelve candles to help us remember that He is the light of the world throughout the twelve months of the year, not just Christmas. Notice that they are red, symbolizing His blood shed for us.
(Then He took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26:27-28)

The evergreens remind us of everlasting life (John 3:16). This everlasting life is God’s gift to whoever will take it. God bless you on this special day -- Jesus’ Birthday!

On a side note, the cake itself was pink (I didn't have enough red food coloring to make it red so what I did have it turned pink, oh well it still eats the same and I will remember for next year how much extra red food coloring to get) also the candles are not red, they are pink, that was all we could find the day before Christmas, I really wasn't prepared this year but next year I will be better prepared!!! :-)

The kids' digging in and eating the cake! It was worth the wait, they enjoyed it and it was fun watching them!

Merry Christmas to all.....

and to all a good night!

We have finally gotten the kids down to bed and I am doing some last minute prepping for tomorrow and Jason is finishing up the last of the presents and then him and I can relax and go to bed! Santa will not be stopping for a visit this year, which is just fine with me (and with the kids, too). The kids opened some gifts tonight, mainly the ones from Grandma and Grandpa Enright and then we played some games together and then it was time for bed. We had service today at 4pm, this year was different than in the last 3 years because our Senior Pastor left last February and we haven't found a replacement for him yet, so it was a different Christmas Eve service than what we have been used to. The message was still loud and clear and really that is all that matters the most. I will post again tomorrow with pics and all. Until then, have a very Merry Christmas!

It is a late start to school this morning due to the windchill. It is cold (below zero and then factor in the wind and you have very cold temps) outside but it is warm inside this house. So the children are still sleeping which is okay they could use some extra sleep before the day begins for them. I find it hard to believe that this week is Christmas, seriously where in the world does the time go? I haven't been blogging much because things have been busy around here and am hoping that things will slow down this week some. Tomorrow is the last day of school for the year. We are looking forward to a break from school. Things are slowly falling into place in our house with Colby and his food allergies. Jason and I spend the whole weekend in the kitchen baking bread and cookies. Things that we know Colby can eat. Poor kid, he is getting better about things he can and can't have. What a bad time of year to get this diagnosis. Last night an hour after he went to bed, he had a night terror, it has been a few days since he had one, and this one broke my heart! You could hear the sheer terror in his cries. It lasted about 10 minutes at the most and then he seemed to snap out of it and was very disoriented, like why are mom and dad both in my room. I picked him up and carried him out to the living room and we sat in the chair with the Christmas lights on, peace and quiet. I went back to almost 6 years ago when that piece of heaven was born and there were many sleepless nights for me as he was a very fussy boy. But sitting there with him last night I remember them as if it was yesterday! Rocking in the chair as he laid on my chest after a feeding, last night his head rested on my shoulder and his body was much longer and filled the chair with me but still it felt like old times when he was a baby! His breathing was peaceful and he was content! I didn't want to put him back in his bed but knew that I needed to. Tucked him in, kissed him and told him I loved him and didn't hear another peep out of him for the rest of the night. AHHHH.....the good ole days! I will try to post more this week but don't know if I will get to it before Christmas! Have a wonderful Christmas and remember that Jesus is the reason for the season! Without Him we don't have any reason to celebrate!

Colby

Well we have finally figured out what has been going on with Colby. For those of you who may not know, Colby has been having headaches alot lately (besides the night terros which have tapered off some), so I finally took him to the doctor last Friday and we decided to take a couple of less expensive tests first. First a blood test to see if he has any food allergies and second was to see an eye doctor to see if he is having a problem with his vision. Well we are still waiting to get into the eye doctor to have his vision checked but we got a message from the doctor's office this morning with the results of Colby's blood test. It seems that our son has a mild allergy to soy and peanuts. HOLY CRAP!!!! That stuff is in EVERYTHING!!!! So we are doing a total overhaul on his food intake and see where that takes us the next couple of months and go from there. If anyone has any advice, thoughts, recipes, ect. please email or leave me a comment and let me know. I am open to anything and everything. I just want the headaches for him to stop and for him to feel better. So hopefully this is a step in the right direction. Please pray for direction and for God to show us the way! Things are finally going to quite down around here thankfully! Have a great evening!

CRAZY!

I just noticed that it has been almost 2 weeks since my last post, so I thought I would drop in and say 'HI', it has been crazy around our house lately and after Monday night things will slow down just a bit! I have much to post but don't have the time right now. I have video's I want to share with all of you and photos too! Between winter programs at school and a Christmas program at church tomorrow, plus Briana cheered yesterday at her very first boys basketball game, we have been everywhere but here! So look for several posts soon with all that named above! We thought you would all like to see the kids in action at their programs. But that takes a lot of time to get it onto my computer, made and then uploaded onto UTube so that is my goal for next week. So that is where I have been and what I have been up to! This is a busy time of year for our family and we are ready for it to slow down just a bit!
