What can happen when.....

You let the teenager have the camera! I busted a gut when I saw these two pics that she took of herself! Enjoy, she may not enjoy knowing that I posted these on my blog for the whole world to see!

Can anyone say "The Blair Witch Project"?

TIRED??????

Would you say that the two little ones had a busy weekend? This was this afternoon on the drive home!

It is the memories that we will take with us that will last a lifetime!

Our weekend!

Oh my gosh! Words can't even describe the weekend that we had together! It was AMAZING!!! I wish that I could share all of our pics with you but of course I can't so I will have to pick and choose! I did up date my blog with some new pics on the side bar! They are all pictures that we took this weekend! We arrived in the Hills Friday night around 8:45pm. We stopped at my brother's house on the way to the cabin and spent about an hour and a half with him and his family! We really enjoyed the short time just catching up and hanging out together! Saturday was a day for our family to spend together! Family and friends were all busy this day so we got to hang out and be together! And be together we were! We brought our 4 wheeler out to the Hills with us and Jason's boss left us his Ranger at the cabin to take out and have fun with (it is kind of like a 4 wheeler but better because it has a steering wheel) anyway.....besides the point! So we decided to spend the entire afternoon 4 wheeling around the Hills. The weather was BEAUTIFUL!!!! We ate a lot of dirt but that is okay we had so much fun! I will post some pics! Sunday we went to church in Custer at our pastor's church plant! It was so good to see him and his wife and listen to him preach! We were so glad that we got to see them while we were there! We then came back to the cabin and had lunch and took a short ride on the 4 wheeler again and then it was off to spend the afternoon with my brother again. Even though we only get to see each other once a year, it doesn't feel like it! Our kids all played so well together, we did have a few moments where our children turned into demons but it's all good! We really enjoyed our day with them and their kids! My brother's youngest son has totally captured my heart, he captured it at the age of 10 months! It made me so happy when he would run away from me but really wanting me to "catch" him! I had so much fun with them all! Jason and I have come to realize that we really would love to live out in the Hills, for now that is not a reality but it is something that we will be thinking of strongly down the road! Anyway.....today was come back to reality day! We left today for home around 2pm. We did have a chance to go back riding on the 4 wheelers for about an hour before we packed up and headed out! We are glad to be home, but Jason and I will only be home for 2 days and then we are off for a getaway to Branson Missouri! Our 10th wedding anniversary in on Friday so we are going to take some time for the two of us! We are looking forward to it! Anyway....I better get some pics posted and get off my computer and get to bed, I have to go back to work tomorrow! I love you all and hope you have a fabulous week!

The Final Day of Homecoming! :0)

Forgive the picture it didn't turn out very well, I forget to get their picture this morning and by the time I remembered they were already down by the mailbox waiting for the bus so it is pretty blurry and not really up close!! Today's theme is......

Blue and White day! The colors of our team the Garretson Blue Dragons! Go Blue!!! We have the parade this afternoon, I will take pictures of that and post them on Monday when we return from the Hills! Have a WONDERFUL weekend! God bless you all!

HomeComing Day #4

Today's theme is.......

It is Western Day! How do you think they did? They had fun with this theme this morning! Thanks to dad and his cowboy hats otherwise they wouldn't have had the hats! Tomorrow is the last day of homecoming week, which means pep rally and the parade, I will take pics of the parade. There is one last theme for tomorrow but nothing that is real interesting! I will probably not post any more until after this weekend. We are leaving tomorrow after the parade and heading for the Hills to spend the weekend relaxing and hanging with family and friends! I hope you have enjoyed the posts this week with the kids and their themes for homecoming! It has been a crazy week and one that I am ready to be over with! Have a great day!

HomeComing Day #3

Okay so can you guess what the elementary kids theme was today? It was a crazy day in preschool! Our preschoolers were all over the place, we think it is because of the change of clothes! Anyway....here are the pics of the younger kids!

Now for the oldest child.....can you guess what her theme was???? She did a fantastic job picking out her outfit to go with the theme!

So did you figure out what they all were today?

Not to hard to figure out that the elementary kids was pajama day, Briana's theme for today was Hip/Hop day!!!

Anyway....tomorrow is yet another theme! Stay tuned!

Cathi

BTW I think it is pretty cool being in a school district that has a Pre-K thru 12 school where the students are all under one roof, then we all get to participate in homecoming activities! :0)

Home Coming Day #2

So can you guess what today's theme was??????

As you can tell today was injury day! The kids had a blast dressing up for this! It was so funny to see all the kids (pre-k thru 12) and what they could come up with for injury day! Keara didn't have preschool today so she didn't get to dress up so she was really disappointed! I also missed all afternoon at work because I had to go to the doctor to find out that I have a UTI. What a painful day it has been! Thankfully I have antibotics and will be on the mend in a few days! I have to stay away from caffeine for the next 10 days because of the meds but I think that I will survive as long as I don't have to endure that kind of pain anymore!!

Stay tuned for tomorrow......there are two different themes because of the different levels in school, Middle Schoolers are doing something different! Briana will prove to make you laugh! Have a great night!

Get a visual in your head of what my kids may have looked like! It wasn't bad, thankfully! The rest of the week should be interesting.....stay tuned.....

Tomorrow is.......??????????

HMMMM....guess you will have to check back!!

100th Post!

I can hardly believe it! I am writing my 100th post! I have really enjoyed blogging and especially love blogger! I don't really know how many people (family and friends and strangers) that take the time to read what I have to say but it has been fun doing it anyway....
It is nice to blog as a journal for all to see. When I was in high school I journaled daily. As I have gotten older I have stopped journaling. Instead I keep a prayer journal. Kind of the same thing except I write my thoughts to God and what I am going thru even though He already knows what I am going thru even before I know. So in honor of my 100th post, I am going to post 100 things about myself. Some you may already know, some you may not! And I am really going to try and make it to 100 things! That should prove to be very interesting!

1. I am a 3 1/2 year breast cancer survivor! (To me, that is #1 because, cancer defines me today for the person that I have become)

2. I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I entrusted my life to Him on February 13, 2006

10. I have a husband who loves me unconditionally (flaws and all) and provides for our family all of our needs!

11. I attend a Baptist church after being raised Catholic my whole life, I wouldn't change that either, God has placed me here for a reason and I have a great support group of friends.

13. I have a bachelor's degree in Accounting and I am not even working in accounting any longer.

14. I can't wait for the day when I become a grandparent (and it better be at least 10 more years and my kids are all married before that happens)!

15. I have brown hair and green/hazel colored eyes

16. Jason and my's dream when we were dating in high school was to one day have 10 kids live on a ranch and have horses.

17. As you can tell we don't have 10 kids or horses (yet)! We are done having kids, that will take an act of God to happen and yes He has been know to perform miracles, anyone recall Sarah in the bible?

18. I have 5 cavities (yes just what everyone wanted to know but this was Briana's idea) :-)

19. I love listening to Christian music, anything that glorifies God is worth my time!

27. I nannied for a year in the Cities after I graduated from high school.

28. I wanted to study music when I got done nannying and become either a music teacher or a piano teacher (as you can see that never happened)

29. I hope to someday own my own business, what kind of business I don't know, probably something with crafts or even something with tax season!

30. I love to play on my computer (sometimes that takes over my time too much)

31. I love Fall, it is my favorite time of year and I am not really sure why. As a kid it was because of my birthday and of course Halloween, but now I just love the change in the weather and all that goes with it!

32. My oldest daughter and I have become closer in the last several months and for most of you who know how that relationship has been in the past this was totally a God thing working in both of our lives!

33. My favorite color is black (and no it is not morbid, it has a uniqueness to it), if I had to choose a different color it would have to be teal! Those were the colors in my wedding!

34. We are leaving for the Hills on Friday 9-26, time for a relaxing weekend away for our family!

41. I have thought about homeschooling my kids (still thinking about it and waiting on God to lead me to what He wants for my life and my kids' lives)

42. Used to love camping when it was just Jason, Briana and myself. Now with 3 more kids just seems like alot of work, plus I really hate sleeping in a tent, I am getting to old to be sleeping on the ground. The cabin last weekend camping was GREAT!!!

43. My screensaver on my computer is the pictures of my family and misc. on my computer!

44. I have had 15 jobs since I was 15 years old.

45. The first job I ever had was as a telemarketing agent in Brookings I was 15 years old!

46. I was sent away when was I was 15 years old for behavior reasons. My parents thought I was on the verge of suicide! Great interference, I don't know if I would still be here today if it hadn't been for my parents caring enough about me to do what was best for me!

47. I used to smoke. Started at a football game my freshman year of high school. 14 years old. I quit 7 years ago!

48. I never used drugs in my life and I don't ever plan on doing them!

58. I hate to cause discord (I never used to be like that, I actually loved causing upheveal especially in my family)

59. I don't make friends easily! I must have the appearance of me or I must come off a certain way. I have been going to the same church for 2 1/2 years now and have finally have myself a great group of friends that I can confide in, cry with and most of all laugh with.

FIREPROOF

You have to watch this clip from the movie that is coming out! Just watching the clip brought tears to my eyes. How many times Jason and I have been at our end where we were ready to throw in the towel. Kirk Cameron I am sure will be phenomenal in this movie. He was in all 3 Left Behind movies and did an excellant job! I loved him as a teenager but think he is even great now because of his commitment to Jesus Christ. He has a great website with Ray Comfort The Way of the Master, his committment to the lost is profound and Jason says the book "The Way of the Master" is great. He did a study with some guys from church on this book. A real eye opener. It is my hope to one day read it as well (as soon as I finish the other 3 books I have started)!!!! Anyway....check out this movie clip, I think it is a movie worth seeing!

The kittens

Finally made it down to take some updated pics of our little kittens. The children have them all named and yes we are keeping all 3 of them. If mama gets pregnant again we will have to give them away, way to many mouths to feed! Anyway....was in between baking bread (2 down, 2 rising and 2 more to go) and getting ready for our fall camping trip with our Sunday School group! And decided to quick blog the pics that Keara and I just took! Enjoy! Have a GREAT weekend!

Updates!

The potato bread was fabulous! It tasted just like the stuff you would buy in the store (or so I think as I haven't ever bought potato bread, too expensive). But I love the flavor and the texture! And the best part....my kids LOVED it!!! hee, hee!

Our kittens are growing like a bunch of weeds. They will be 3 weeks on Wednesday. I need to take pictures of them. We have 1 boy and 2 girls. Boots, Peanut and Coco (BTW Boots is the boy) :0)

My preschooler had a fantastic day at school today! She had attitude when we got to school but once she stepped into the building she was great! I was so proud of her and told her so when I dropped her off at daycare.

After we got home from school, I suddenly had the onset of a migraine (or the beginnings of one). I picked the teenager up from volleyball practice around 5, came home, fixed some food (leftovers as much as I could scrounge up), ate, took 3 ibuprofen and the last shot of my Diet Mountain Dew and curled up on the couch and caught a nap as the older two did their evening kitchen chores and the younger two headed outside to help dad work on the goat pen. When I woke up about a 1/2 hour later my head was a bit better! I really hate headaches, they suck the LIFE OUT OF ME!!! My poor husband and what he has to endure when I have a headache! Sometimes they are so bad that the only thing I can do is go to bed with ice packs around my head. I have a remedy that seems to help at least it has the last few times I have had a bad headache. 3 ibuprofen and a can of coke. I totally hate coke but the sugar in coke and the stuff in the ibuprofen seem to do something to my headache. CRAZY!!!

I am off to bed now, I think my husband is done being occupied by his tv so I am going to go and spend some time with him! Have a wonderful Monday evening!

Another experiment!

On my quest for a GREAT bread recipe, I have tried another one. The last two loaves that I made were good and the kids LOVED it, but I thought it was alot of work! So I checked out this book last week from the library called Old-Fashioned baking (or something like that) anyway...it had a TON of recipes from breads to muffins to cakes (and I am on a quest for a homemade cake recipe), so anyway....I found a potato bread recipe in this book and my DH was peeling potatoes for dinner tonight and had one extra so I decided that it would be potato bread for my next two loaves. WOW, what work there is to making bread! DH being the smarty pants that he is....decided to stand on the other side of the counter and watch me. I was complaining about my wrist hurting as I was kneading the dough and he said.....aren't you glad you didn't live 100 years ago, you would be doing this daily!! My response was "shut-up". Okay so not really a very respectful response to him, but I was rather irritated! Anyway...the bread rose beautifully and baked great, as for taste, I don't know. That has yet to be determined! I thought I would post some pics of before baking and after. We are seriously considering investing in a bread machine but haven't fully decided on it yet or not. We will see. Fall ball begins for Briana tomorrow so for the next 5 weeks our Sundays will be consumed with double header games in the afternoons! That along with volleyball practice daily and games 2 days a week and then clubs/bible study will start up again this Wednesday night for us that I don't know of a night that our family will be around. I will be glad for volleyball/fall ball and any other kind of sport to be over with and some normalcy to come back to our family, oh and did I mention that in the midst of all that running around Jason is doing 2 (yes count them 2) side jobs after work and on Saturdays. I am very much ready for those two be done with. The extra money is nice right now but I would rather have him home than the money. What does the bible say...."the love of money is the root of all evil". HMMM....food for thought! Have a great Saturday evening!!

Cathi

PS while I am thinking about it....a lot of these recipes call for shortening, I don't use shortening (I don't even keep the stuff in my house for that matter) because it has hydrogenated oils in them and I try to stay away from that as much as possible so my question is this (and please leave me a comment on here or email me) what can I use in place of shortening?

Before

After

Look at those UGLY pants! HMMM....he is reading the cookbook I checked out from the library. What I will have to make next for him????? ;0)

My Preschooler!

Today was Keara's first day of preschool. Let me tell you, it was not a good first day of school for that girl! ATTITUDE!!!! And to top it off, today was picture day and she cried and cried right before pictures that she didn't want her picture taken so needless to say when I finally got her convinced that she had to have her picture taken her face was red and blotchy! Those should be some good pics, huh? She also didn't want to put her apple up on the chalkboard and she didn't want to tell something about herself! BUT....by the end of preschool she didn't want to leave and go to daycare, hmmmmm....something really wrong with this picture! Go figure! Hopefully she will get into a routine and know what she can and can't do while at school! Anyway....enjoy the pics of her today! She is growing up way too fast for me! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Cathi

Isn't she cute and doesn't she look like she is ready for preschool?

AHHH...don't let the looks fool you, she isn't as sweet and innocent as she looks!!!

Affects!

The affects too much "partying" can do to a teenager during hayfever season!

This was Briana in high spirits Saturday evening around 7:45pm. She is happy and looking good and really enjoying herself! What a funny girl! I love you baby girl and am so glad that you and I got to "hang" together a little this weekend!!!

This was her last night around 11:36pm. She just couldn't stay awake any longer! She was physically drained! You are an amazing young lady, God has much in store for you, lean on Him always!!!

Have a blessed day!

It ended with a bang!

Fireworks ended the festival, oh so amazing! It was an amazing weekend for Jason and I. Friends, food and the music. Him and I were able to reconnect on a new level in our relationship. I find it amazing how God can bring two people together in different ways and then mold them into one with similar likes and dislikes. God is going to do some amazing things in our little family this year, I can feel it! We are looking forward to next year's festival and what God will have in store for it next year! He is gracious and sovereign. It is amazing that they can still offer this festival for FREE every year, God provides our needs! Have a wonderful Labor Day!

Closing night of LifeLight!

The night ended with Natalie Grant and Casting Crowns. Briana loves Natalie Grant's music, she has a beautiful voice, but I was most excited for Casting Crowns. All of their music is driven from scripture and how to apply to every day life. Mark Hall (the lead singer) has written a book called LifeStories (which I am reading again) in which he tells the story of the songs that he has written plus how God has used him. He is also a young pastor at his church in Atlanta, Georgia! If you really listen to their music, God can really speak to you. I remember when I really sat and listened to their song "East to West", I was at the car wash getting the van washed and I sat and listened to the lyrics and I just cried my eyes out. I have been there so many times in my life! God loves me even through my sin, He forgives me of it when I ask and He forgets it as far as the East is from the West!
Lord, you are holy and beautiful, thank you for giving all these people the talent and the heart to go out and reach people through their music and their ministry, You are an AWESOME God!!!

Enjoy the pics!

Natalie Grant

Look at all those people, even on a Sunday night at 11:30pm!!!

Sunday Afternoon!

Yesterday afternoon was when all of my favorite bands played. Again, amazing! Their music, their stories and how God is using them to reach the lost!

33 Miles (also Briana's favorite band, they have a country sound to them) very awesome, her and I didn't get to see the whole thing because we headed up to the First Aid tent to have her checked out!

Matthew West, this guy's story is amazing! Last May he had surgery on his vocal chords and didn't know if he would ever be able to sing again, but through his faith in God, he was healed and was able to sing and perform again! This guy has some awesome music and an amazing voice!!! :-) Praise be to God!

Matthew West again!

Building 429. I love their music, again their music is driven by cicumstances in their lives and by scripture. Their name comes from Ephesians 4:29 "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."

Building 429 again!

It was an amazing afternoon of music and worship!
